Assumption College - Culinary Alumni Inspire Hospitality Students
Held in conjunction with RURBAN, Assumption College hosted a fine dining experience in their recently opened Neale Daniher Community and Sports Pavilion.
Capturing the essence of its purpose, the Community Pavilion hosted the gathering of Old Collegians and community alike.
Now working as a chef at one of the Gambero Rosso's Top Italian restaurants of 2022, Trattoria Emilia, Luke Barany graduated from Assumption College in 2017 and commenced his cooking apprenticeship with Seymour's Winery Kitchen. After travelling through Italy early in his career, Luke has firsthand experience with authentic ingredients and techniques of Italian cuisine and showcased these in his RURBAN fine-dining menu.
Chosen to represent Australia at the world chef championship 'Bocuse D'Or' in 2020, 2015 Assumption graduate Harrison Caruana is returning to his old stomping ground. As the former champion of Nestle's 'Golden Chef's Hat' competition, Harrison is now working as a Sous chef at University House and developed a menu for RURBAN's fine dining experience that included his signature appetiser dish!
This event was a valuable and rewarding experience for students to learn from previous alumni Luke Barany and Harrison Caruana whilst gaining hands-on experience and putting their hospitality skills into practice.
Congratulations to Trainers Pieter Siebel and Antony Campbell for facilitating this great opportunity for their students.
